  • Pre-Civ: the guns germs and steel mod

I'd like to propose a mod that starts at, say, 10k BC, and that gives each civ a real chance to determine their future destiny. They'd have 5 turns to 5000 BC, to the beginning of the technological, and they'd have to desperately explore their surrounding area in an attempt to figure out what sorts of terrain were going to predominate on their local continent area. Because at 5000 BC [when the actual tech race starts], they'd have to pick a terrain-type to get bonuses on [representing the domestication of a crop that thrives in that terrain], and for the rest of the game they would be tied to that bonus, unless they maybe conquered another civ.

Of course, If you hadn't stepped on a grassland square you can't use a grassland crop, and perhaps each grassland square does not present wheat as an option. And so, from the end of the ice age you have very little time to both find a good bonus and locate a good starting site.

It's very guns, germs and steel. Trust me.
I'm typing this from my bathtub. It helps support my girth.
