Vondrack contacted me last night just before I went to sleep and asked if we made a decision on their offer of Republic for Polytheism & Currency. I told him we had not because the trade was so far off in the future (30+ turns), and that we usually dealt with trade issues around 5-10 turns before.
I told him I'd talk with my team about it and get back to him.
He mentioned that they wanted to know soon because if we didn't want to do that trade, they may not research Republic, and may go for something else.
This needs to be discussed with Vondrack and preferably by someone other than me. I previously told Vondrack that the trade he proposed was a "good idea" after nearly begging him to open up to us and start getting involved with their part of our tech-reseach agreement. Frankly, this proposal is a bad idea. We don't need Republic at all, we are going Monarchy, and Republic ONLY has value if you want to use it as a government. If Legoland researches Republic we can pretty much forget about tech trades with them until they get a tech after Republic ... assuming that we don't already have that tech too.
Would someone please chat with Legoland's Vondrack saying that most people on the RP team don't think it's wise to get Republic because we'd never use it, and that the team is currently discussing Legoland's offer?
