As I ascend to the presidency, this seemed a perfect time to take a full assessment of where we stand as a nation. So, with that in mind, let us begin...
Domestic
Number of Cities:12
We currently have the largest number of cities in the world, as far as we can see. The RPers are close behind with 11, and they still have a sizable area of useable land to their south.
We still have plenty of room for expansion as well, and we do not have two powerful neighbors to our north to worry about. I feel strongly that we can maintain our expansion fairly steadily for the foreseeable future, giving us a good industrial edge over our opponents.
Land Area:17,600 sq miles.
This puts us as #1 in the world, a position I believe we can keep, as covered above. Another benefit in our favor is that we have not had to do any large-scale tile sharing with our cities, meaning that they all have the potential to grow quite large and productive.
Mfg. Goods:49 megatons
This places us #2 in the world. Though, of course, we can't know who is #1, I'm going to take a stab and guess it's GS. They are in their GA now, thus have their bonus. This still leaves us in a very strong position, and I believe that we can out-produce the rest of the world in general, and when we finally enter our own GA, we'll be far, far ahead of the pack.
GNP:101 million
Again, we are #2 in the world. And, again, this is very good considering we are not in a GA, and we are still in despotism, and we know for a fact that several civs have already made the switch to Rep. Once we switch over in a few turns, and GS leaves their GA, I think we will be on top.
Treasury:406 gold, net of +9 per turn
A healthy bank account, to be sure. We have made some good profits, and we are currently pulling it a nice steady flow of cash, one that we could tweak with if we wish to devote more to science. We will have a nice cushion of funds for rushes and upgrades once we switch to Rep.
Literacy:10%
#1 in the world on this front, due to our 2 libraries. We could be tied with other nations, but I have a feeling we really are in front.
Population:1,539,000
Putting us #2 in the world. Someone out there grows faster than us, but that is not suprising considering our jungle surroundings... Nothing to worry about
Disease:21%
#6 in the world, putting us last. Again, no suprises as we have our rich jungle all around us. It will be a long process to clear it all, but our industrious workers shall do their best.
Military
Current Standing Forces:
Warriors: 3
Archers: 1
Swordsmen: 4
Horsemen: 3
Galleys: 2
Num. Merc: 12
Workers: 10
The bulk of our military is, clearly, in the defensive side. This, however, is quite appropriate given our situation. As we currently have no plans for overseas conquest, our greatest military focus should be on dealing with invaders in our own lands. The backbone of Num. Mercs, accompanied by power-hitting swordsmen and fast-moving horsemen, stationed at key points through our lands, should let us fend of attempts to enter our territory. We will, in the future, need move naval forces to deal with intercepting incoming forces to our lands, but I do not think this will be a major concern until further advances have been made in terms of naval technologies. In the meantime, I would say continue building mercs, and continue building swordsmen. They will be our best investments for the time being, with a few more horses thrown in for good measure.
Military Comparison:
Gathering Storm: We are weak compared to this civ. This is no suprise, as they are probably dedicated to building military right now. Fortunately, they are also in no position to pose any threat to us, so no worries.
Vox Controlli:Again, we are weak. And, again, no suprise. Same situation as GS.
Role-Play:We have an average military compared to them. If I were to speculate, I'd imagine most of their forces are on the defensive side. With their neighbors and the land pressures on Bob, they would be unwise to have it any other way.
Neu Demogyptica:Average in comparison. This is actually somewhat relieving, as one would expect them to be building massive forces based on their general behavior. They are probably stocking up on horses for upgrade to their UU, but their lack of ports means they pose little threat to us.
Glory of War:Again, average. Speaking strategically, GoW poses the greatest direct military threat to us. With their high number of ports, and upcoming UU, they would be the most likely to stage an invasion of us. However, if we can keep relations warm with them, and show we are beneficial to have as trading partners, they likelyhood of that lessens. Plus, cross-ocean warfare with galleys is a difficult, costly task, also reducing the likelyhood. We should keep watch, however, if we become weak compared to them...
Ok, that's all for now. Tomorrow I will be adding sections on our diplomatic relations, science, and in-depth city reports (maybe)
