  • How would you rather go?

Well, in the thread "Have you ever played to the bitter end" it talks about get destroyed. As the topic suggests, how would you rather go?
    A) Full-scale nuclear war
    B) Barbarians
    C) Large, multi-front war
    D) Other

    A:1
    B:0
    C:0
    D:0

I'll take barbarians, because it probably means it's still early in the game and I haven't wasted to much time in a lost cause.

How I want it to be:

      A) Full-scale nuclear war
      B) Barbarians
      C) Large, multi-front war
      D) Other

      A:1
      B:0
      C:0
      D:0

How it often is (in MP only):

      A:0
      B:0
      C:0
      D:1

I'd never want to go down with the barbs! Too embarrassing...

Many of you probably know that Clash song :
"When they kick at your front door, how you gonna come ?
With the hands on your head or on the trigger of your gun ?
When the law break in, how you gonna go ?
Shot down in the pavement or waiting in death row ?"

It's the end that's tragic, not the way it happens.

            Or as another song says:

            "One way or the other,
            Fool Card brother,
This is going to be the first time."

I usually don't stick around for the bitter end. It's a game! If you have no chance to win, start over. Even someone with low self-esteem would be hard pressed to enjoy getting whomped. Remember the basic rule: "If you are not having fun, it isn't a game." However "serious" you have to be, however hard you have to concentrate, the idea is to enjoy the challenge.

Of the four choices, the only losses I've had have been B and D. The "other" is when I get jumped early by another civ. Once in a while, the barbs will weaken me enough before writing (with its diplo to buy barbs), for me to go down. Elsewise, I play on until I see I'm WAY too far behind or until the end, with or without an actual victory.
No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai
"I played it [Civilization] for three months and then realised I hadn't done any work. In the end, I had to delete all the saved files and smash the CD." Iain Banks, author
