I am currently developing a present day scenareo for the GigaWorld map starting at year 2000AD.
The civilizations available will be:
Americans
Russians
European Union
Indians
Chinese
Muslim World
Third World
This scenareo will be set up to reflect the world situation as realistically as possible. Of course it cannot be completely realistic.
It's quite a ways off being completed and ready for play ut I thought I'd put the word out and see if anyone would be interested in playing or might have some ideas or opinions to put forward.
The Americans of course will be very powerful and very well off, followed by the EU who will be very wealthy and powerful as well.
The Russians will need some economic smarts to get them on track but they will have an enormous army.
The Chinese are a bit of a wild card....they will be a little behind but will have that humungous population to play and a very large army as well as all that stolen nuclear technology. The Chinese may do very well if you play your cards right.
The Indians will be the smallest but will of course have nukes and a relatively formiddable army.
The Muslim World of course will be fundamentalist. The Muslims include the Middle East, North africa, Indonesia and the Near East up to the Indian border. These guys will have hordes of partisans and fanatics as well as a reasonably formiddable standing army and airforce. Led by Saddam Hussein, The Muslim World will be an interesting civ to play.
The Third World of course will need some development. They have the potential but have so far gotten the raw end of the stick. Playing the Third World will be a challenge and some real smooth wheeling and dealing will be needed to prop up the economy. The Third World has the largest amount of cities, however, and the largest population.
The key to this game being an enjoyable one is that it is a diplogame and that leaders give diplomacy the importance it deserves. Trade agreements will be one of the big topics of discussion. Another is nuclear proliferation.
A Modpack will be developed to extend the tech tree into the 21st century and changes will be made to the wonders to make them more modern.
Any ideas on rules?:
1. Government switching? (Americans might go fundy)
2. Sea vessel movement?
3. Bribing?
4. How shall trade agreements be made? What about Tariffs?
5. Should SDI be allowed or perhaps made more difficult to reach?
6. It's obvious the Americans will win the space race....should it be scrapped?
7. Alliances of course should be legal....
The starting point for players will be very unequal. America will be hard to beat and I think everyone's going to have to work together to take them down (If that's what your is going to be.) Now I know a lot of people are going to whinge about this this scenareo but I'm going for reality, not fairness. I'm not sure how to determine who gets to be who in a fair manner. Any suggestions for that? I think it may come down to a first in-first served basis. I also suggest that whoever is american in this game should prefferably not be a warmonger.
