Maybe this is a dumb question but how can I play by e-mail? I just saw the PBEM list and I got very excited but when I looked at my game (Ultimate Civilization II Classic Collection) it doesn't have a PBEM option. It has other multiplayer options like LAN, Internet, and so on. Can someone advise me about this? I'd really like to play with human players but because I live in South Korea it's not convenient for me to play Internet games because of the time difference. Can anyone give me some advice about this?

Good news. You don't need anything except Civ MultiPlayer and your email. It just means you play via email. Players have their turn, email the game onto the next player, and so on. It was devised for people who can't spend ages playing online.

PS. Depending what time you play, you might be able fit in with some of our Australian games. We've been a bit lazy lately, but we usually play most nights from about 9pm Australian Eastern time until roughly midnight.

It is no (menu)option... it is a feature
PBEM games probably never ends this century, but they are big fun

There is a pretty detailed thread about the technique, have a look at http://apolyton.net/forums/Forum2/HTML/000819.html

let me try to explain it as short as possible:
      - get your turn by email (*.net file)
      - load it as LAN- internet game without anybody joining (you need not be connected to the net)
      - choose your civ and do your turn till "end of turn" is blinking in the right bottom corner ("wait-at-end-of-turn"-option needs to be enabled)
      - press ctrl-N (but not return!!!)
      - save the game and send on to the next player in order

      Good luck & have fun!
