Well I think that is daft too. I objected to that when makeo first did it to me.
My objection to unit bribing is based on the fact that armies simply do not go around in pairs like mormons. As someone who spends so little on defence and dislikes war, I'm surprised you support it. For me, its not a big problem, just silly.

Fair enough. For the record, my Civ objections - and, conversely, preferences - aren't based on what might or might not happen in the real world. Civ clearly isn't the real world.

The game departs from reality more often than it reflects it.

Does a tree stand in the forest if no-one can see it there?

</font>The game last night has raced along. Its 1750. Are you planning to try and build a spaceship finbar?
As I remarked to you on ICQ after we'd finished last night (but you'd gone), I can't quite fathom my tech and Wonder lead in this game. My first 3 or 4 cities live on rivers, I know, but beyond that, my world is only average. This morning I noticed a post in one of the other forums to the effect that science happens differently on a small map. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

I'm just glad to have influenced the siting of your coastal cities
I'm not that far behind you, ahead in some areas. Why didn't you want to trade techs last night? That's not very friendly.

Well, I've only got about 3 coastal cities on my mainland and they were situated according to available specials. Though I take your point.
I didn't knock back any tech trades that I recall. In fact I can't even recall you ringing me up to trade anything. Did you try? I had massive problems contacting my allied players in the Millennium Diplo game last week. Their attempts to contact me were disappearing into thin air and vice versa. I hope this isn't a developing pattern.
