Well I intend to be around. Probably finbar too if he can drag himself away from the cricket.

On reflection maybe you were talking to deity on Tuesday. He sent me a message saying he didn't want to play. Maybe I missed some of the other icq convo that went on.

Well, I'm here. Having just watched an absolutely enthralling last day of Test cricket. What a quite amazing series. Now I have the one-day series to look forward to from Sunday night, and the one-day series between South Africa and the Windies (in the West Indies) from May 2. Fun, fun, fun.

        No I'm not getting cable.

I'd like to know how you get good terrain on a small map.

Okay, if your problem is that the kids would hog the 2 or 3 cartoon channels, get rid of the kids. You can watch the cartoons in peace yourself.

Obviously. Because you started a thread about it elsewhere. I responded to it. To save you going and looking - the answer is that you can't get enough good terrain on a small map to be anything like fair to all. The majority of the terrain on small maps, regardless of the settings, is always mountains, jungle, swamp and plains.

Maybe we should start this game again on a larger map. But I think normal is too big for 1x.

I'm perfectly happy with the game. Hydey will be, too, in a coupe of turns.

I don't know what you 2 are complaining about anyway. I see now you both have good land. Better than mine in fact.

Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) On coastal cities, he uses spies to blow the coastal fortresses, then brings in battleships. He then brings transports full of units into the taken city and spreads out
Spy Reports: (From Druid Steve Pastic)(To President Rod Potter) (A.D. 1933) ok I guess I will be ****ed then
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) with as many units as he has, it's impossible to defend against. It's a matter of striking his cities first. Just be careful he doesn't have subs, etc, around his cities
Spy Reports: (From Druid Steve Pastic)(To President Rod Potter) (A.D. 1933) Striking with what?
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) It also depends, of course, on how many waves of units he has in reserve. That's why giving you these cities is the best tactic. He has to waste troops taking them
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) what units do you have?
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) He can't attack your mainland AND clean up my cities at the same time
Spy Reports: (From Druid Steve Pastic)(To President Rod Potter) (A.D. 1933) mainly alpine and marines and fanatics
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) battleships?
Spy Reports: (From Druid Steve Pastic)(To President Rod Potter) (A.D. 1933) I have 1 of those
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) I'd steal techs from him till you get espionage; build battleships and transports; and marines (to take his coastal cities). Use the spies to knock out walls and coastal fortresses
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) His capital and the cities around it are all coastal
Spy Reports: (From President Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1933) forget science, crank up your income
Spy Reports: (From Mr. Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1934) Horse would rather play a game he's winning

From High Priest Rod Potter (A.D. 1934): all right that's the transfer done, except for Bombay, which I can't cede because it's tyhe last city
Spy Reports: (From Druid Steve Pastic)(To High Priest Rod Potter) (A.D. 1934) I have no money for buying cities
Spy Reports: (From High Priest Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1934) oh well, you will. it will be dirt cheap

From Druid Steve Pastic (A.D. 1934): I have to stop real soon as the room is spinning

From High Priest Rod Potter (A.D. 1934): I've saved it. You save it too, I think Horse has gone for a canter somewhere
Spy Reports: (From High Priest Rod Potter)(To Druid Steve Pastic) (A.D. 1934) a few more defenders than last time, Hydey?
Spy Reports: (From Druid Steve Pastic)(To High Priest Rod Potter) (A.D. 1934) yes 1 or 2 thanks

yes well done horse (penishead) it looks like you will win this game that you controlled your civ from the start and Hydey took over a civ from the stupid AI . You are the best, simply the best.

I think I'll have to watch the first one-dayer tonight. India were 2/50 after 10. Luckily Tendulkar was run out for 35 (off 29). He was in the process of smashing us out of the game, including 18 off a McGrath over.

Make that 4/218 off 36. Their number 6, a newcomer by the name of Segwar, a little threshing machine, has 56 off 50. Has a partnership of 98 going with Dravid.

Edit. Fleming just bowled Segwar for 58. Phew. 5/222.
