History of Sid Meier/Reynolds and Civ?

Hi all,

Long time CivII player on the Mac, first time visitor. The site is awesome!

Question:

Does anyone have a detailed FAQ or article concerning the history of Sid Meier's games? I gather that there were some lawsuits involving Sid and the rights to use the Civ, but this whole issue has me confused. IE, Activision releases Civ:CTP, but Sid/Firaxis will also be releasing CivIII. Also, what involvement has Brian Reynolds had in the Civ series?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

PS-- just preordered Civ:CTP and SMAC for the Mac... hopefully they'll be landing on my front door any day now.
