My CiV 2 copy gets all the terrain descriptions wrong.
I think this happens because of a corrupted (and pretty bad - tempered too) file called: get_info.exe.

Can someone please e-mail this file to me?

Oh yes, it happens to me also.

i don't use the civilopedia for terrain, so it doesn't affect me.

discovered it while wandering around the civilopedia while bored.

I know it's about civilopedia, I just hope it's the only screwd up thing on that shady cd rom.
