Sound off so my girlfriend doesn't know I'm playing. Thinks I'm working instead. Ditto for my other boss at work.

But he touched it too much!

Sound and music off. I listen to a cd or mp3 while playing. Actually I can't remember the sounds and the music at all, since I turned them off after a couple of games and I have never turned them back on.

I first played Civ II on the Playstation which had great music so I kept the music on. When I got Civ II for my PC, I was disappointed to find that my favorite Civ song wasn't available in the PC version. So now I play on the PC with the music off. I think all of the songs are either depressing or distracting in the PC version.

Or you could just play freeciv - freeciv has no sound so you don't even have to turn it off! Again freeciv is superiour!

            ... umm never mind.

              hell no

my favourite sound: Fire! followed by some explosions- this should be obvious what unit this is.

and I have to hear the cheers when I build something- I just have to

the music- sometimes on when I'm feeling nostalgic. sometimes I just use my own cd

I would play with it on - were it not for the fact that my old soundcard won't let more than one program use it at a time

Sound on, music off. I couldn't play without the sound effects, it would just be too quiet.

I have to often play with earplugs or earphones because of the first person shooter game going on next to me.

I turn everything off. It's very repetitive hearing always the same sounds, and I liked the music back when I played Civ1, but Civ2 didn't add much to it. I have it all grabbed in my mind, anyway.

And why can't you run other sound apps while multiplaying?
