Sound off so my girlfriend doesn't know I'm playing. Thinks I'm working instead. Ditto for my other boss at work.

I first played Civ II on the Playstation which had great music so I kept the music on. When I got Civ II for my PC, I was disappointed to find that my favorite Civ song wasn't available in the PC version. So now I play on the PC with the music off. I think all of the songs are either depressing or distracting in the PC version.

Or you could just play freeciv - freeciv has no sound so you don't even have to turn it off! Again freeciv is superiour!

I have to often play with earplugs or earphones because of the first person shooter game going on next to me.Gaius Mucius Scaevola Sinistra

I turn everything off. It's very repetitive hearing always the same sounds, and I liked the music back when I played Civ1, but Civ2 didn't add much to it. I have it all grabbed in my mind, anyway.
And why can't you run other sound apps while multiplaying?"An intellectual is a man who doesn't know how to park a bike"
