  • how to solve the off topic problem

    well

actually there are too many posts in the off topic and it´s really hard to find the one that post the day before

why don´t we divide the off topic in a few other windows

    one about politics
    another about history
other for MWHC and his spams....

probably this has been post before but I think that it is a good idea

You won't get that kind of response from me

Hey Shaka Naldur... are you too lazy to click on page two and look for the threads you are interested in? Or if that's too much effort, you could always bookmark threads you want to follow so they are always "one click" away.

      But seriously...
Unless the management has changed there mind recently, there is no intent to break the OTF up into multiple forums based on subject matter. There is really no need for it. Steps have already been taken (like restricting the number of threads started in the OTF by person within a specific time frame, and strong moderation) to help the clutter situation.

If clutter becomes a bigger problem, other solutions would probably be considered long before considering the breaking the OTF into little pieces.

How about we make a whole section out of the OT. Lots of other chat sites have subdivisions of OT. OT is the biggest forum so hence more liable to subdivision. Also, (anticipating the "this is a civ site" response) if this is a civ site, why are there more posts in OT than all of Civ2 combined?

Sub-division kills. Forums start getting neglected and the vibrancy disappears. You end up with ghettoes and dead ends.

<img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>cause it's easier to post "give me a lemonade" in the coffee shop threads rather than post an opinion in a strategy thread

Touche markie mark! Now since I was the originator of the third (original) coffee shop ("cappuchino with a lemon twist"), and an active participant in the first two Gregor chats, is it OK if I bring back real coffee shop threads? Not this fake drinking crap!! But Gregor-style talk?!?!?

Laz, this is a good argument. Much better than the "this is a civ site refrains". And Trappist, look what has happened to Stories and Diplomacy...

But I didn't like that crap so it doens't bug me...but story threaders are out of luck...

perhaps a branching thread type OT would be helpful

A hack that allows for a double column of threads on the first page might do the trick...but how hard is it to click to the next page, really?
