    Thanks for the up-date Mark.

I just saw a thread in the OTF with 134 posts and it had 4 pages. It did say however that it couldn't find page 4... so I locked the thread and started a new one... silly me
    Keep on Civin'

Personally I'd prefer even more threads on each page of the forums, and more posts on each page of the thread they dissapear too quickly from the bottom of the thread list and loading extra pages with the new advert everytime is slow.

Wouldn't it be easier for everyone (especially Ming ) to change it to 160?

Nice move MarkG! I supported the change in replies per page to 40 because I figured it would make threads load faster - and in the process help out those unfortunate enough to have a slow connection.

*Cheers from slow connections people are heard from across the planet*

I'm glad you're displaying more topics per page now. It takes almost no bandwith to load the text of the title and a link, so there's no reason not to. In fact, I'd be in favor of 50 or 60 topics per page.

But I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with the second change. It doesn't help people with slow modems at all! Or at least, very little. The time it takes to load a page is more based on how long it takes to load the advertisements, so you're making things WORSE. Plus, it's annoying, I want to be able to look over as much of the topic as possible without keeping 3 or 4 windows open. Awhile back there was a propsal, with some support I might add, to change the posts per page limit to 75! I'm still in favor of that, I might add.

And yes, I have a 28.8 modem at home, and I know that I notice no speed increase from loading a 25 post page (at another forum) to loading a 50 post page (here at Apolyton, in the old days). At least go back to the 50 post/page topics, please! 40 posts per page is just annoying, with lots of clicking on links! I use a slower modem (though not right now), and there will be no cheers coming from me, Legman!

                    All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

The problem with loading ads is not with the size of the ad, but with contacting the ad server. On bad days, getting the ads can take several minutes.
