  • A Standardized Text Box - Yeah!

If a post is too long, people won't read it.

Some methodical types will, but not many.

In addition, it probably deters programmers from looking at all of the suggestions.

A standardized text box could help Apolytoners to distill our ideas into manageable chunks.

Another suggestion would be to more diligently distill the information in a number of ways:

    - Combine posts that are related
    - Have forum helpers (possibly the original posters) write summaries after the idea has been developed. These could be put in a special set of forums (eg. linked from the appropriate apolyton/game webpage) for easier reference.
    - Have more control over who gets to submit a post.

Too much work with what you're talking about, Slingshot.

The solution is simple: if a thread is too long and people don't read it, the poster will get the point and -- if they want the situation to change -- modify their posting habits for the future.

How about ways to group similar threads?

I don't know how many times we've hashed out an idea into something glorious - only to have it fade away when everything has been said - and then have a settler post the same idea a few weeks later.

I like the idea of groping posts together…

Similar threads already -- or should be, anyway -- grouped together.

The method is called "create more than one forum".
