  • UoP - a registered domain!

Sorry to clutter up the strategy section.

I noticed that www.universityofplanet.com was a registered domain. Nothing there yet, but someone must REALLY love the University.

Does any one know who registered it? Is someone planning a virtual University or something?

If so I'll brush up on my ethical calculus and nonlinear genetics. Can't wait to start experimenting on drones, heh, heh.

Also morganindustries & peacekeepingforces are real sites too. Nothing SMAC related though.

    LOL - that's neat.

When I was trying for a short URL for the Spartan Chronicles (which is: http://clik.to/sparta) I wanted go.to/sparta, but that's taken by a football team (Dutch, I think)

I still think one of the best was www.furaxis.com, a spoof site. Dunno if Firaxis bought it and deleted it, but it no longer exists.

So.. hasn't happened much there since Jan 2000 I guess.. since there isn't a page up yet.. probably won't happen much either. Maybe just registered for fun or something? Wait a year and it might be free for registering again.

No idea what ponycomputers does, didn't seem to be able to access a page at that url. Oh well.. cool domain name tho

        Almost A New Topic

A *little* late but thank you Closey for the information. I just can't get how someone paid for a domain name only weirdos like me would visit.

This is directed spam. Has anyone ever been in an AOL chatroom and found themselves talking to CorazonSantiago or SinderRoze? Are you one of the freaks who's got AOL screen names after an Alpha Centauri character?

No? I actually sent some joke emails to these people, so I'm sorry for harrassing ProkhorZakharov and AkiZeta. I only searched aol.com for Alpha Centauri names, but if anyone's got one somewhere else it might be interesting to share. TheNerveStapler@hotmail.com would be cool.

Before you ask, I did actually want one of these names as a new AOL identity but only MiriamGodwinson was free - and can I just say, no bloody way ! Of course someone could innocently be called Corazon Santiago, but how likely is that?

Not entirely sure why I'm posting again (dammit I want a custom avatar- only 50 more posts - sigh), but I just thought I'd list the active names for AOL's Centauri mad users.

I've always thought about choosing my alias according to some legendary sci-fi/fantasy character/phenomenon. But guess what? They're all taken. Just try searching ICQ database, you'll find million Santiago, couple thousand Morgoth, fifty Patrick Bateman, few hundred Sun Tzu and so on...really. How uncreative can you get? No offense to anyone but I enjoy having a unique alias whether it makes sense or not
