  • Questions...

Ok, I an a relative newbie to SMAC, even though I have been playing Civ II for years and reading these threads since they opened. I have learned about the effective use of crawlers, specialist cities, energy and nutrient parks, Vel's Guide (~bows to the god Vel~ Thank you for your Bible, oh mighty one!), city layout, SE manipulation, the design workshop, armoring probes, formers, and crawlers, plus too many other things beside that. My game is improving a lot. The only reason why I am sticking with the lower levels of the game is because I am still learning how to effectively use what I have learned.

    Now, my questions are...

    1. How do I get to the archives? There are plenty of things that I read that I want to reread.

    2. Who do I get in touch with to do a PBEM game? (Not much time though. Wife, Kids, two jobs, ect. But I do have some time.) I have reached the threshold where *Human* interaction is needed to make me use what I have learned.

    3. What is the most useful thing that you have learned from these forumns? In my case, it would be crawler use. Damn effective.

If I have any other questions, I shall ask. Thanks for any input that is given.

    Best wishes,
    Kevin

In the 'Hop to" menu at the bottom, choose AC-Strategy or AC-Help, NOT AC-General/Help/Strategy

Look for the PBEM Tournament signup thread in the AC-Multiplaying forum. Tau Ceti, the person in charge of PBEM tourneys will sign you up for a game, or two or three....

I agree with you. The use of crawlers made me leap from specialist to trancend level. I also learned the joys a submissive can bring. love them tech slaves.

        3. Pop-booming, crawlers (& energy parks), unit shells (1-1-? trained upradables), armored probes, air interdiction (ZoC blocking), drop probe/colony pods, air transports/colony pods, superscience/specialist cities, turn advantage, effective rush building, pollution control. Probably a few other things too.

        2. Civilization Gaming Network has some decent SMAC & SMACX games going now. Post a thread to get mark13's attention.
