What is the purpose of selecting random personalities or random agendas? I mean does that make Yang a money grubbing capitalist and Morgan a tree hugging freak? How does that work?

One of the many edges you have as the human player is to be able to anticipate how various factions will result under given circumstances. Randomizing their personalities and agendas removes this diplomatic advantage.

It is also a lot of fun to try now and then. One of the features I enjoy about the game is the well developed characters for a computer game that are reasonably consistant with their agendas. Randomizing everything removes this facet of the game, so I don't use it very often.
