As everyone knows a good SE setting is the first thing to win in SMAC/X. I've noticed strange social settings in AI play that penalise all the AIs' possibility:
normally AI Fund/Planned/Power: good moral, good probes, good support for human player are a manna from heaven. I repeat for human player. AI uses Fund before have gained tech superiority with facilities or SPs and uses this social setting for all the game. In fact only Hive and PK can begin a serious risk at high levels. Hive use PS/Planned/Power and without EFFIC penalities has:
+3 GROWTH
+2 MORAL
+2 POLICE
+4 SUPPORT
-2 ECONOMY -call -2 ECO a penality is an insult to everyone's intelligence...-
On the other side PK can become a problem with his VOTES, 2 if you are too engaged in eradicating "Yang problem"...
I've tried to have a less unbalanced SE using also +Talent or -Talent that in normal game there aren't used.
Police State:+POLICE,++SUPPORT,--EFFIC,-TALENT
Democratic:++EFFIC,++GROWTH,--SUPPORT,--POLICE, +TALENT
Fundamentalist:+MORALE,+PROBE,--RESEARCH

I've tested only with SMACX. Don't use for SMAC only take an eye on Manifold Nexus.
