  • Firaxis take note - a petition

Recently, there appears to been some feeling on the boards that Firaxis should have released SMACX (in addition to the Planetary Pack) in Europe. This thread is a petition to Firaxis to change their stance and release SMACX over here.

If you agree that SMACX should be for sale in Europe, please reply below, giving your name and country, so that we get a view of geographical distribution. Please do not post comments in this thread, so that the replies count may be used as a count of the no. of "signatures".

(MarkG, if you have any objection to this thread, I apologise, please close it)

FIRAXIS. We, the under-posted, believe that there is a European market for Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri - Alien Crossfire (SMACX). We therefore petition you to release SMACX for sale as a single item in Europe

I bought SMACX about 3 months ago. I come from Hull. You definitely can get it, there just aren't many of them. I guarantee you if you go to a reasonably large city with a reasonably large games shop, you'll find it.

I got my copy of SMACX in Belfast 3 months ago for £20. However the Planetary Pack, which is now out, costs exactly the same, so if you don't my SMACX yet, get the PP. You're not losing anything. In fact you will have two copys of SMAC to melt into ashtrays or whatever.

As to the availability on main land europe I am unaware, LoD, who is from Poland has yet to get a copy, (I think).

I got SMACX in Dublin for 20 quid about six months ago, and as SwissCheese mentioned, the Planetary Pack is also now out here for around that price, or SMAC on budget for a tenner.

Problem is, there's only one "official" distributor of EA products in Poland, and they're not shipping SMACX because they think it will not sell well. I've conducted a poll - 5% of people said they would buy a pirated copy, 0% said that they would not buy SMACX at all (if it would get shipped into Poland).

AFAIR, I bought the German version of SMACX for 35 DM (roughly 15 US$ due to bad Euro) last year. No problem at all to get it in Germany.
