    Just thought I would stimulate some thought on this matter.

    While it's a no-brainer that we are going to be running Free Market, I am a little troubled by the other SE choices.

    For instance, if we run Demo, we'll have a better growth but we'll take a hit on support.

    Police State will help us out with support, but we'll take a hit on efficiency.

    Values is where I'm also concerned. There has been some talk that we aren't going to have a strong military, but if we run Power-then that'll make up for it...but we lose Industry.

    I'm guessing that we will most likely be running Wealth...cause added to FM, we'll have:

    FM= +2 Economy, -3 Planet, -5 Police
    Wealth= +1 Industry, +1 Econ, -2 Morale.

    That -5 Police combined with -2 Morale is really concerning me. Seeing as how in my games, I have a pretty high morale, but low credits...I'm at a loss. Hopefully you guys can help this poor employee out.

    I usually go Dem/FM/Wealth. One extra crawler on a forest is the equivalent of +2 support. It's not a big deal, IMO. The mad cash is a big deal, though.

    For war, Dem/Green/Wealth (or Fundy) w/ 100% Econ.

    I often stay at Dem/FM/Wealth even to go to war, but I usually have three huge minerals bases with punishment spheres that provide the offensive air units, naval and expedetionary forces (and if I have the luxury I try to snag the Cyborg factory and then give each base, resepectively, an aerospace, command center and naval yard to get the +4 morale for each unit

    We probably shouldn't take police state, we will lose a lot of energy to inefficiency as it stands, and crawlers can do alot to counter-act the support hit under demo.

    My suggestions are:

    I like fundy/green/wealth while at war. We can keep +2 econ/+2 efficiency without demo/fm, others can't, while they are using fm we can throw native life at them in addition to our well funded/well trained probe teams. If they switch out of FM then we win by default.

    I generally like Democracy/Free Market/Wealth myself, ESPECIALLY in the early game if you're still trying to get your economic base off the ground. When building up for a war or certainly when fighting a war, however, Police State/Free Market/Power or Fundamentalist/Free Market/Power are both attractive options. Sometimes even Fundamentalist/Green/Power, as some have suggested.

    Question. Why would you take Power instead of Wealth in that position? In my mind, the production and cashflow increases seem to be worth more to us than a few extra points on Morale and Police. Honestly, will we ever be commiting ourselves to a war where we aren't

    a) Using mainly probes

    B) Executing lightning strikes that allow us to take bases within a turn, and so not suffer drones for out of territory troops

    c) Using Air Forces homed to some all specialist or punishment sphere bases

    Only a defensive war I think, and in that case we wouldn't really be commiting ourselves to a war so much as being commited to it. I see no major reason why we wouldn't want to run wealth all the time until possibly knowledge becomes a better choice.
