Random Map Size

Does this feature work? I've started 12 games with Random map size turned on and had 6 civs each time. That doesn't seem to be using the other sizes at all. Has anyone used the random map size and gotten something other than 6 civs?

I am starting using the adanced options so I can randomize everything and use all the maps.
