This may have been discovered before. . . but I didn't see it listed after reading quite a few posts.
If you hold down shift while the enemy (and your automated "go-to" units are moving), they move at turbo speed. It really helps speed up the turns.
At least, this works on my machine. Give it a try (as long as you don't need to see everything that's going on. . . it all blurs by!).
