  • Road to theHighlands

1120bc and the fine city of York has finally been settled. Along with this the work force have pushed a road through from the home City of London. The years have been hard and vicious, with many lost to the attacks of the wild cat people. To the north our allies the Chinese continue to prosper.

    Subscribing to thread.

The English have much land around them but we, the Chinese, are blocked from the fertile lands to the north by an impassable mountain range. We have sent men, women, and children on a long walk through the wilderness to find promising new lands and resources that will benefit our people and our cousins the English.

you do head for the promised lands, that is true...

we are not sure what you will face along the way, but some of my folk are gathering a force of archers to come along behind your folk, guarding there way

          Great Picture

Although they suffer many hardships and deaths due to starvation and cold, my people continue on through the wilderness to the land given them by Heaven. Only the strong will arrive and that means their children and their children after them will be strong . . . .

The people of Anmok have completed the Oracle. When asked how to best conduct themselves, the Oracle replied that society should be run on respect for one's elders and rulers. A man named Confucius expanded those teachings into a complicated and rigorous philosophy. One of his students is now going abroad to spread those teachings.

The missionary is nervous about wandering the wilderness alone. What was his king thinking? Does he want a marytr for the faith?

At long last, the hardy settlers arrive at the new city site but find to their horror that the area is infested by barbarians. They ope to set up a town soon, to defend themselves.

In other news, the Confucian missionary became a martyr for the faith. A moment of silence . . . .

The people arrive at their destination and set up the town of Gangneung. The barbarians do not seem eager to get into a fight with the travel-hardened group of settlers and their warriors and have moved south. When they can, the people will begin to mine the iron deposits near the town so they can make better weapons to defend themselves against enemies.

The Chinese people are very cultured but they have much to learn about the art of warfare. The archers sent south to fight the barbarians were wiped out in their first skirmish.
Avenge their deaths, my English ally!
