Old PBEM games still valid after Warlords?

I am just now getting back to playing Civ4 after a long break and am wondering (and can't find through search):

Are old PBEM games from Civ4 1.61 still playable after installing Warlords?

Even if the other PBEM players don't have Warlords installed?

After installing warlords, you will have two icons to start the game. One to start vanilla Civ, and one to start warlords Civ. To play the vanilla Civ games, you need to start using the vanilla icon, and similarly for warlords games. You'll also need to correct CD in the drive as the warlords cd won't allow you to start classic Civ.

Yes, thanks a lot. I'm about 4 months into a 5-player PBEM and I didn't want to screw everybody up.
