I got a router and setup a LAN, and now it is impossible to join a game of Civ4 multiplayer.
My old setup, computer and cable modem connected directly to it. I could join most games and play frequently without problems
New setup, cable modem connected to router, computer connected to router. I can join the gamespy lobby and see games, but cant join them, 50% it gets stuck trying to contact the host, the other 50% of the time it gets stuck trying to contact the first player.
I have a Netgear WGT624v3 router. I turned on Port forwarding to my computers IP for 2056, that didnt work so turned on port forwarding for prts 1-65534 as a test. I turned off its SPI firewall too. Nothing works. My local computers ip is 192.168.1.2.
I also have Norton Internet Security 2006 installed, but that never caused a problem before on my old setup. I have tried disabling it. I just cannot connect to a game. Can anyone help? Or am I just screwed?
Anyone using a netgear router?
Possibility
