  • AW OCC as Tokugawa

This is a fun little challenge that I cooked up last night. It's a Always War game as a One City Challenge as Tokugawa of the Japanese.

The map is a small pangea (4 AI's). I sweetened up the start location a bit, and narrowed the two chokepoints down to one tile each. Other than that, the map is "as rolled". Tech trading is off by default (if you want an extra challenge, play it as a custom scenario and leave tech trading on) and all victory conditions are enabled. The default difficulty is Emperor and it's at Epic speed. If you want to change speed/difficulty feel free to do so, but note that if you want to play at Immortal/Deity you'll have to add in the extra techs/units that the AI normally gets at these levels.

    Start position:

    Spoiler:

I strongly suggest settling in place.

If you've never played an OCC before, the rules are slightly different from normal. You cannot ever build a settler, any cities you capture/culture flip will be auto-razed and you can build up to 5 National Wonders in your city. Choose them wisely.

Always War means that you will automatically declare on any AI you meet. The AI's are not under the same restriction, and won't declare on each other after they have met you. It may be wise not to explore too far too early.

If you can survive long enough to get to Samurai, you'll likely do well. There are a couple of defenseable choke points that will be in your culture after your 3rd border pop. The Great Wall is your friend.
Expect to see some highly promoted units.
    Spoiler:

Note that I didn't attach the GG until he was over 100 xp and running out of usefull promotions to take. He started life as a Samurai.

To play, download the attached zip file and extract it to /mydocuments/mygames/BTS/Saves/WorldBuilder (assuming you used the default BTS install). Start up BTS and select either "Play a Scenario" or "Custom scenario" from the Single Player menu.

    Good luck, and have fun.
