Both these maps struck me with how good the surrounding terrain was. Most starts I have my capital and one other good city site within 5 tiles, and then ocean, desert, or tundra, but not these two. Well fed, plentiful and diverse resources, nearby opponents to rush, and enough river to make me sad I'm not financial. Try them out if you care to. Oh, and I think the Japan start would be ideal for a first attempt at monarch *cough*AAHZ*cough*, though the settings may have to be changed to make it more of a challenge (it is an advanced start, for one.)
