I`ve Done it .!!!!
managed to play 5 crash free games....no reboots no hangs, no CTD
AMD 1.7 gig Athalon
512 Ram
XP home SP2
Nvidia 256 (latest drivers 81.95..i think)
Hope this helps for other people, first when the patch came out i decided to uninstall the game......why? read on.
First uninstalled civ4
Uninstalled older nvidia drivers(rebooted) then installed latest ones(rebooted)
then defraged pc
Installed civ4 ( rebooted) installed patch ( rebooted)
Wonder movies run aok now.
I only play on small and standardmaps but do NOT use the CUSTOM button.
( this for me causes crashes, I dont know why ) go in via the PLAY NOW option and I`ve now played 5 games on fast speed with NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER.
I can now enjoy the more subtle things in this game without worrying when the next crash is going to happen
