I only have the original Civ4--no expansion pack(s). I reinstalled it yesterday having not played it for a year or two and updated to the latest public patch found on the official site, i.e. v1.61 Patch [Downloads].
As I want to mess around with modding it, I also downloaded the SDK which, when unzipped, explicitly specifies that it's for the v.1.61 version of the game.
Okay, the thing is when I first ran the game and did a "check for updates," it downloaded and installed v.1.74!
Is the v.1.61 SDK compatible with this "new" version of the game, or has mod support been officially dropped considering this "in-game only" update is over a year old:
