Originally posted by Dinner View PostThe Supreme Court actually ruled they were a poll tax which is why they legally now have to give away the IDs for free. Currently there is another court case pending claiming they're really not free because to get the free ID you have to show copies of documents such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate/name change forum, etc... Those supporting documents can cost up to $50 each so the claim being made is that the ID isn't really free because to get the "free" ID you have to shell out up to $150 to get copies of the documents. It will be interesting to see how the court rules.
The Democratic defense of their outrage is getting sillier and sillier.
How the hell can someone not homeless even function in today's society legally without ANY legal documents? Like really...
If this law disenfranchises homeless people, so be it (though don't they need an address to register to vote period?) and frame the debate in such a manner. Anything else is absurd."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

A few weeks ago, a Democratic Committeewoman came to my door with the voter registration roll. She pointed to my name and asked if this was me. She then moved her finger to the 'R' and, after a few seconds pause, asked, "Did you mean to have this here?" and then wanted to debate with me about politics saying she was going to change my opinion.
I was actually offended by her language. When she asked me about jobs going overseas, she used the term 'Chinks' profusely (she's an older Black woman). I called her out on her racism and she just said 'no, I'm not prejudiced against anyone. I have no hate for anyone. I follow the Lord Jesus Christ'.
It's a small thing but what gives with a Democratic Committeewoman coming to my house because she doesn't like that there is a Republican in her precinct and using such offensive language in my home?"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

But the article is not discussing just ID laws. One of other things discussed, is severely restricting early voter registration, shortening the hours open for voters to go and vote to make it more difficult for workers, and among other things.

Hey here's a question for you anti-ID folk...
Let's say I have a friend named George Anderson who lives in the Germantown neighborhood of Philly, or I just looked him up online. I go to his polling place and say I'm George Anderson and I don't have an ID. I vote. I then go to South Philly armed with the name of Richard Sanchez and vote for him then go to...
Could I have been committing voter fraud for years now?Last edited by Al B. Sure!; April 8, 2012, 01:46."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
