I did a routine check on the file "tw 2192 to fed.zip" and there is an issue that I believe is relevant for me to mention--just to make sure that you all know.
The Spartans are still under the influence of a customized 'faction.txt' file. As mentioned some time ago, this does have a direct impact on the game. Specifically, the Spartans have an intrinsic +20% production bonus increasing their production capability of more than 30%. They have extra support and reduced hurry costs as well.
Also, I should think the Spartan attributes change between players; hence, it is difficult to say exactly what to expect.
I am not entirely sure, but I think this has already had a significant impact on your game.
Well Rubin, this is very disturbing. Are you able to tell which one of us has the curruped files? Is it possible that somehow my own files could become currupted? Is there a way for me to check?
Net Warrior: I think it highly unlikely that your own files could become corrupted by this--you can check this in different ways, though. A preliminary way of doing so is to examine the spartans.txt file in your main Alpha Centauri folder--it should be similar to the spartans.txt file found on your install CD.
You can alternatively check if the spartans.txt file has the following line included (this is from the original non-modified file):
TECH, Mobile, FREEPROTO, 0, SOCIAL, ++MORALE, SOCIAL, +POLICE, SOCIAL, -INDUSTRY
I assume that the files originate from marcovalente--but I am uncertain if they have been permanently embedded in the save files; that is to say, even if marcovalente no longer have the modified files installed they are somehow still present in this particular PBEM.
Rubin, my spartans.txt file is fine. Marco has sent me 2192 so I guess I'll just go ahead and play it. Thanks for all your efforts with our game.

hey guys i have come to an unfortunate dicision, i am no longer able to play becuase of my very demanding lifestyle. i'm sorry to give up on you guys like this. I really injoyed this game.

I haven't received to move from UoP so 2194 in your post, Josh, is the last move we have. I guess we just pick it up from there.
How about we ask Marco to give his password to Josh? Josh plays both factions however he sees fit. That will tend to restore the balance.
That's a interesting thought. It would make up for The Hive having suffered due to The Spartan advantage. Hive and UoP could pact for increased commerce and cooperate in many other ways. What do you think Josh?
