    The Story of a Nation

    Ah...

Rome. The eternal city. So much history. So much heritage. So many great men have travelled the streets-Julius Ceasear, his son Augustus Ceasar, and many many others.

But some are not content with the rule of the emperors...

Some grow tired of worshiping deities...

Some fail to see the point of it all...

Some see through the thin veil of mystique and power of the emperors, and see them for who they really are...

The weak, debauched cowards they all become...

    "Huh?"

The blackness parted to reveal a whitewashed roof of marble. The curtains were open on a side window, and sunlight filtered inside. The scrolls sat on the table, next to the sofa, and the pool was pleasantly bubbling.

Gregorius yawned loudly. He rubbed his eyes, and lifted his hands up into the air, parting them to the side. Then, he got up, out and off of the sofa that served as his bed...

Fortunately for him, it was the summer, and the Academy was closed. Gregorius was a budding, aspiring scholar, and an avid historian. Although he was too young to have witnessed the days of the republic, he looked back with nostalgia at the ideals of democracy. And how he craved it...

Ummm, PM? Where's the "Give us more goods!" poll option? It's kinda too little stuff to really tell... But you got some nice sentences there.

Any way, post some more, please.

    his son Augustus Ceasar
It is my understanding that Augustus (Octavian; before he was Emperor) was Julius' nephew.

Other than this minor factual error the story seems quite promising. Keep it up.

Gregorius continued to muse to himself. He stared up at the ceiling, and began to think deeply...

During Gregorius's short stint in the Army (he was discharged after he was found physically unfit) he had learned that if you disliked something, you had to go and change it for the better.

But a coup was to dangerous...

Still, no one would really care if a new nation was formed, right?

Besides, Rome's colonies on the continent to the south were not really valued by Rome, were they?

And the people living there were sympathetic to the cause of the Republic, weren't they?

As they were mostly sent south for their political views...
