ISDG Forum Game #5

This thread is for the fifth installment of the ISDG forum members. If you're not a member but are a fan Apolyton, apply to join! Doing so will, as a side benefit, allow you to play in PBEM such as these against 'Poly's finest (or so we're told!).

This game started a while ago, and is therefore closed to joiners.

Participants (in order of play):

Dominae; Americans
E_T; Japanese
Kloreep; Chinese
MasterZen; Iroquois
Trip; Greeks
ZargonX; Ottomans
BigFree; Egyptians

Settings:

All settings are still open for discussion. World size changed to Standard due to number of participants.

Difficulty: Emperor
Culturally-linked starts off
Accelerated Production off
Rules: Play the World, version 1.14
World Size: Standard
Land Form: Pangaea OR Continents (mapmaker's discretion)
Water Coverage: 70%
Barbarian Activity: Random
All other settings default.

alexman has volunteered to set up this game for us (assuming he will not decide to play instead). Thanks alexman! I hear he takes bribes for good start locations, but he scoffs at anything under 100USD.

Yeah, no tundra and mountain islands!

My picks for civs: Greece, Carthage, China.

The more random the better (as long as no one gets a horrible start).

Definitely higher difficulties... we need to make those luxuries worth something.

My top three civ choices are: Ottoman, America, Spain.

Yes, a map that's good a teneable starting position for all would be good...

My vote would be for Emperor level as well

Original post updated. Welcome Kloreep! I was just about to switch to China before you came along! I may have to change my pick anyways, since I'm playing a SP game with Rome right now and I'm not too impressed. Hope this is okay with everyone.

Let's wait for E_T to pick his civs, then we'll begin.

Hmmm, I would like to see us on a standard map, but that seems to not be the case.

Japan, Persia, Rome.

I've changed the map size to Standard. There will be lots of room, since we're only 6, but it makes the Expansionists slightly more potent, which is fine with me.

I'll keep you all posted on the state of the game.

Of the 3 people who are in the GMT-5 zone, I get home and can play around 6PM (or so) my time. I don't know which has the better time to play, Dominae or ZargonX?

As for GMT-6, Trip and Kloreep are tied and we need to know the better times for each to play.

With everyone being within 3 timezones, we might be able to get together for a occasional turnchat, to knock out some turns....

For the next couple of weeks I will not be very available. But usually I get my turns in anytime between 9am and 11pm EST, since I am a student and can be home during the day (at my discretion).

So what I'm saying is: it really does not matter where I'm placed within my time zone.

It's probibly best that you go first then. I can only play during those times on the weekend. But let's see what ZargonX has to say...

At the moment, I can take my turn almost any time between 11am EST - 2 am EST. However, my employment situation may be changing shortly (hopefully

), so to be safe I'd say I'm most likely to go between 6 PM EST and 2 am EST. Also, my ability to play turns on Saturdays is a little hit-or-miss.

So, what I'm saying is, Dominae should probably go first

What's the reason to get someone to set up the map? To get more even starting positions? I guess after Trip's bad start in #3.......

We need another player. I nominate Fried-Psitalon. If no one comes forward within the next day, let's start with just 7 players.

I'm available somewhere between 1700-1900 CST (1800-2000 EST, 2300-0100 GMT) or later at night, like 2100-2300 CST. My schedule varies through the week, but I can usually log on long enough to play my turn sometime in the early or late evening.

Yes, everything is final. Concerning the Continents/Pangea distinction, I trust you'll use your judgement to make a fun/interesting game for everyone (unlike Minitourney PBEM!).

Does 125USD net me a MA and a Transport?
