    Thamis,

    a) Pericles never was the leader of the Greeks but rather of the Atheneans. I would advice you to switch the Greeks to the Atheneans who aquired true power in Eastern Mediterrenean during the greatest part of the 5th century BC. Therefore you should put as special unit the trireme and not the corracle because the power of the Atheneans was based on the power of their naval force and their greatest weapon, the trireme.

    b) The most powerfull formation of the Macedoneans was the Macedonean phalanx. I can't think of Alexander's Empire even existing without it but you put the peltast instead, a well-known lite unit used for secondary backup purposes through out all Greece from the Archaic era.

    c) Why all put Cleopatra as a leader of Egypt? Cleopatra was the last heir of the Ptolemaic Dynasty, a Greek-Macedonean one
It would be more appropriate putting Ramses III or someone else.

    d) What have the Welsh to do with the Mediterranean? I am not sure but did they ever lived near it? Perhaps you should consider replacing them with Celt? But then again you have Gauls.

    Keygen:

    a) You are right about Pericles, but calling the Greeks the Atheneans would make it seems like a small Civilization. Athens was not always the greatest power in Greece. I will stick with the Greeks. But on the other Hand Pericles was just the leader of the Atheneans. Right. But who's Caesar? Just one of many emperors... Who's Hammurabi... one of many... You get the point.

    b) I listened to the Advice of another guy from Athens (Ad Hominem) and he suggested the Peltast and the Hetairoi cavalry. The reason why I wouldn't give the Macedonians the Hoplite (Phalanx is a standard unit that anyone can build) because then we would have two civs next to each other with the same UU.

    c) You may be right about Cleopatra...

    d) Well, the Welsh are being removed. They were supposed to represent the Celtic tribes in England. We now have the Brittons instead.

1.5 will be mainly balance issues, a few new units and such. The new unit balance that was incorporated in v 1.4b will be slightly revised. Several civ traits will be changed. Several wonders will now be tied to certain government types.

Version 1.6 will be a much greater update. We're currently discussing some civ-specific advantages - things that only one civ can do from the beginning on: example: Babylon can build ziggurats (+1 culture), Phoenicia can build Phoenician Ship (cheap transport), Assyria can build wonder gilgamesh epic (?). Well, still in discussion, so if you have any suggestions you're welcome to post them.

I'll post the current idea list shortly.

    -----

Another idea... this is a biggie!

In CIV3 it's possible to give techs to one and only one civilization, they cannot be traded or researched. What I'm suggesting now is that each CIV gets one technology at the start, which gives them one advantage. And I'm saying unique here - no double advantages (not like in CIV traits or UUs)! These techs would be there from the beginning on, but some of the advantages could rely on resources or buildings from later techs to enforce a late advantage.

    Some ideas:

    Babylon:
Ziggurat - cheap building that gives +1 culture

    Phoenicia:
Phoenician Trader - cheap ship 2 transport, better than coracle

    Rome:
    Forum - cheap courthouse

    Assyria:
Gilgamesh Epic - Won that doubles science in city

    Minoans:
Quay - small harbor that allows coastal trade and gives +1 trade in sea squares

    Germanic Tribes:
Call to Arms - can draft from the beginning on (too powerful?)

    Goths:
Gothic Settler - cheaper settler (too powerful?)

    Etruria:
    Etruscan Pottery - cheaper Granary

    Egypt:
    Sphinx - Won, 2 non-era techs

    Lydia:
Mausoleum of Halikarnassos - Won, 3(?) happy in city

    Sheba:
Aqueduct of Marib - Won, free Aqueduct in each city (they really need it!)

    Greece:
    ? maybe a cheaper library...

    Persia:
    ?

    Gallia:
    ?

    Scythians:
    ?

    Carthage:
? something with ships or the sea...

    Berber:
    ?

    Medes:
    ?

    Israel:
    ? something biblical...

    Hittites:
    ?

    Kolchis:
    ?

    Huns:
    ?

    Dacians:
    ?

    Iberians:
    ?

    Brittons:
    ? something with druids...

We have already found out that it's stupid to give civs extra buildings with cumulative effects (like marketplace), that would be too strong.

Well, but 8000 BC - 600 AD kinda includes all the history that is ever mentioned in the bible.

Version 1.5 is in the testing phase! We have already added the Picts as civilization, and maybe the Basques come in too.

We really need testers! If you want to test the beta version(s) of 1.5, just PM me and I'll sign you up to the testers group. You will then be able to see the testers group in the CDG forum (link in my sig).

Oh, you need to be registered with CDG first, of course, and I need to know your CDG name...

    Thank You

I really enjoy this mod. I'm now playing it almost exclusively (when I play Civ). A minor point - I still get your mods frontispiece when I tried to open up a regular game - are any of the other changes persistent? If so, OK, I'll just reload in a month or two.

No, no other changes stay. I assume you're playing the CIV3 version, right? Generally nothing stays, and even the title shouldn't stay. But oh well, that's a bugger.

    I have an idea...
Perhaps you should add the Spartans. They were a very influential force on the Greek Peninsula. I have seen an Agis III leader head on Civ3files.com and Civlandia that would do nicely, plus a Spartan Hoplite unit on the CivFanatics Forum that would do nicely. (Problem is that I can't manage to download the Agis III leaderhead no matter where I go)!
