There is already a thread with these, but I don't remember where it is. If I find it I'll report back.

How about a list of commonly used Civ abbreviations that aren't quite as well-used or known as the standard 'Net ones like IMHO, IIRC etc. I certainly know that without the, oh, hours I have spent here, I wouldn't know what some of these meant.
To get the ball rolling;
WLTKD or WLT?D - We Love The King/President/Whatever Day
RTM - Read The Manual
RTFM - Read The F ing Manual
LGT - Late Game Tedium (I HAVE seen it!)
OCC - One City Challenge (try to win the game with only one city!)

There is already a thread with these, but I don't remember where it is. If I find it I'll report back.

Here is one non-civ related.
PBEM: play by email
Still,
every time I use it, there is someone who doesn't know what it is.
Hotseat: playing MP on same computer (one by one)

OTOH - On the other hand
IFE - Infinite Forest Exploit

UU = Unique Unit
I drink to one other, and may that other be he, to drink to another, and may that other be me!
Thanks for explaining things =)
But IFE was cured in the 1.16f patch, or so they said, so one shouldn't use the abbrevation anymore.
Thanks for this thread. Some of us forum newbies really benefited from it.
Does anyone know the thread Gramphos is speaking of?

FP: Forbidden palace
MP: Multi player mode
MPP: Mutual protection pact
RoP: Right of passage agreement
REX: Rapid expansion
T-REX: The best REXing civ in the game
ICS: Infinite city syndrom (build cities at most 2 tiles apart. there are other translations of the S though)
SMAC: Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (in threads where people are whinig about lost features)
FCC: Five city challenge (extension of OCC)
Somebody (may be the thread starter), should assemble an alphabetical list of all in the 1st post and keep editing it. As for the existing thread, well, it's useless if it's buried somewhere. It would be good to make something like a FAQ of it in the Help forum and ask a Moderator to TOP it.
Permanently EDITed by adding stuff...

Was gonna help out this one, but theres an excellent one somewhere, all nicely formatted and such... just needs some finding (assuming it made it through the server-swap ok)
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

WOW!!!
As the bugger who started this thread,I feel somewhat obliged to find this thread everyone has seen. But, there have been 1020 threads in the Help section alone!
I don't have that sort of time nor patience, so please, if you remember anything about where it was, help!

Skanky Burns, Gramphos, can you remember which forum this thread was in? Help, General? Or even which forum it was NOT in would help. I want to find this thing but am faced with a rather hopeless task of trawling through the many thousands of threads in ALL the fora, so ANY help would be much appreciated.

I think It was in Civ3-General.

Gramphos, there's another thread just started by bsklepzig over on Strategy Forum.... don't know how to point to the thread number but it it's at the top of the heap at the moment. I found it and this one really useful![]()
Gracias Gramphos.
