    Well, yeah.

As it tuns out, the advantage of the retake for this class is that our professor left us very uncertain of what would actually be on the midterm, so a second crack with knowledge of what you're being tested on is probably going to benefit a good number of us.

I wonder if, in an alternate universe, there exists a "jesusday"
To us, it is the BEAST.

I wonder where the names come from

so deutera (monday) means something like "Second"
                triti like third
                tetarti like forth
                pempti like fifth
paraskeyi doesn't mean anything ressembling a number, it means "construction"

then savvato propably comes from jewish? (sabbat)
                and kyriaki is a name*

*solved. it's not just a name. it is the day of Kyrios (the lord)

ha! the ancients called sunday, imera heliou which means day of the sun (=sunday)
so did the latins and the germans apaprently

monday was the day of the moon
                  and then
                  ares (mars)
                  hermes
                  zeus
                  aphrodite
                  and
                  cronos

then probably christianity came and said no more gods you dufuses and it got changed (although they were also planets)

Hm ... then the christians did something wrong in GB and germany ...
in the german and english meaning for 3 (german) / 4 (english) days of the week definitely originate in the german/scandinavian gods .. i.e. Oðin (Wednesday = Wodansday), Þor (Thursday of course), Tyr (in Tuesday) and Frigg (Friday)

                    Addendum:
Wednesday only in english ... in german it is Mittwoch = Midweek

(on the other hand no surprise that the christian influence is greater in greek ... if we think of the basileia ton romain ... the byzantine empire ... as the successor state of rome)

I wonder what the italians and russians are calling their weekdays
(also now I'm pretty sure the greek weekdays and weekend names represent the 7 days of creation as in the bible. kyriaki (sunday) = day of the lord. and on the 7th day of creation the lord rested that's why all shops are closed!)

                          which makes me think

in ancient "helaios" (day of the sun)
today (and probably from christianity onward) "kyriaki" (day of the lord)

sun gives life/lord gives life (actually holy spirit but they are trinity)

                          they are all inteconected

                                HA!

the jewish people have similar to us names

                                Sunday Yom Reeshone First day
                                Monday Yom Shaynee Second day
                                Tuesday Yom Shlee´shee Third day
                                Wednesday Yom Revee´ee Fourth day
                                Thursday Yom Khah´mee´shee Fifth day
                                Friday Yom Ha´shee´shee Sixth day
                                Saturday Shabbat Rest

there is a small confusion on the sabbat
it keeps getting better and better

                                and the arabs too!
