If I take Mrs Horse to Vegas I should put her in a top hotel and try to stash a bad girl in a down-market place

      Pro tips for Vegas travelers:

The Sunday brunch at the Bellagio is expensive, $90 a person, but not to be missed. Nosh on caviar, lobster, prime cuts of meat, and an amazing array of sea food then wash it down with all you can drink French Champagne.

The newly redesigned Baccanal feast at Caesar's Palace is the best mid priced Buffet in Vegas. No lobster or caviar here but plenty of other goodies including snow crab legs and a variety of very fancy looking things already individually portioned. It was really good and reasonably priced at $45 for weekend dinners or $35 if you show your players club card. Don't bother to spend the $16 on the upgrade for all you can drink wine and liquor as their wine selection is poor, the liquor is well drink quality, and beer means budweiser (no micro brews offered).

Skip the Sea Food Buffet at The Rio unless you just want to stuff yourself on a limited budget. The price is $35 at the door or $25 if you have the free coupon and they will take $5 off if you have a players club card. Which means you can eat there for just $20 but honestly it isn't that good.

Oh, and Shake Shack has now opeNed up a location at the New York, New York so get your fix without having to travel to the big apple.

See, tha5's the funny thing. When I am paying suddenly she remembers really fancy (read: expensive) places she has been dying to try but when she is paying or we are going dutch suddenly she remembers places which are "good enough". Strange how that happens.

BTW The Venetian is very nice, even their "cheap" rooms are twice the size of most other Vegas hotel rooms, the rooms have a great view, and the appointments are top notch. They really do have the most comfortable beds in Vegas. They are over stuffed long king sized with high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and really soft down feather pillows.

One downside is the place is even more of a maze than the casinos usually are in Vegas. I sometimes felt like a rat in very posh maze. I do have to wonder how many high end shops selling designer women's shoes and hand bags one resort needs and why do girls feel the need to stop into each and every one of them? Personally, I'll just ogle the Swiss watches for a few minutes, maybe buy a fancy cigar, and then feel it is time to go back to the Blackjack tables.

Strange yes but yet oh so familiar

The shop thing, my theory is some of the ladies stop at every shop until you buy them something, while you go white knuckle on your chips. Crude but effective.

At the other end of the spectrum, shopping and guilt seem to go together for some women, like Mrs Horse, so the window shopping is torture but they just have to do it.

What I do is work out what Mrs Horse really liked, and we can afford, and go back separately and buy it. That seems to take the guilt away.

Those with access to my Facebook might see one or two. Generally, I am not one of those guys who takes pictures of everything though.

For future trip, the most "romantic" hotel is the Rumor Boutique off strip.

This weekend we will be going down to Baja, we have reserved a room at the Estero Beach Resort in Ensenada which I have heard great things about, and we plan on doing the wine traIL tour in the nearby Goudaloupe valley. It has been a few years since I last went down there so hopefully there are some new thing to see but it will be her first time down there. The food scene was off the hook when I was last there and supposedly it has only gotten better with lots of European and American trained chefs opening up fancy place but, because it is Mexico, the prices are stI'll quite reasonable.

I don't understand Vegas at all.

Seems like the most overrated place on the planet.

I remember getting a fried pacific lobster in Ensenada. That was really tasty (and relatively cheap).

Was it Ensenada or Puerto Neuvo? I ask because Puerto Neuvo is the small fishing village which made deep fried lobster (really any deep sea crustacean because they do the same thing with crabs, lobsters, or any type of shellfish really) famous in Baja and any where you go they will ask you if you want your lobster steamed, boiled, or fried "Puerto Neuvo style".

It used to be much cheaper before NAFTA because back then most of what the fishermen caught was sold only in the domestic Mexican market where as now most of it gets sold on the international market. That is good for Mexico's economy and improved incomes for both the fishermen and the packing companies but it was bad news for gringos looking for dirt cheap but fresh lobster, crab, and shrimp.
