    I've always thought so, but now that we have introduced WH40k into the discussion it makes me wonder if walkers might have some sort of viability in a setting where some sort of spherical "force field" technology with the right set of limitations were in play. Perhaps engineering difficulties in manipulating the shape of such a field and the behavior of attacks that successfully penetrate the shield might make a low profile useless as a design consideration. Perhaps that could be useful for creating a sci fi setting where walkers seem to be genuinely militarily sound?

              That presumably depends on the size of the mine. I'd wager it doesn't have the same belly armor as the v-hull strykers but mine protection is way less of a priority than ATGMs and tank guns not being able to penetrate it from the front. Clearing mines is what the engineers are for.
