those are terrible analogies. you should try putting a little thought into them next time.

i notice that you don't actually disagree with i said. almost all mainstream politicians have very similar economic views and support some very authoritarian policies; if you actually look at what they do, you will see this to be true, and this explains why they are almost all in the top-right of the political compass.

of course they say they don't, and try to present a great divide between themselves and the other guy(s), but this is mostly a combination of the vanity of small differences and the need to give people the illusion of choice.

to talk about the american context, people in this thread have expressed surprise at the similarity between obama and romney, yet what substantive differences were there between them? (this was in fact one of the main criticisms directed at romney by right wing republicans) what would romney have done differently if he had won in 2012? obama's flagship policy, the ACA, was even modelled on one of romney's!
