There was no reason to way overfund Sarkeesian's project.
People just wanted to make a statement.
I actually think that Banks issue is the more relevant one (although I also would probably rather watch Sarkessian's, but it is worth ~10k not >100k.).
My point is that people hear about something, and then say 'I want to make a statement there too...'.

The video game thing is ****ing stupid. I don't remember seeing a single woman in Call of Duty MW3, let alone some scantily-clad one to be saved.
Are women oversexualized in games with exaggerated features? Maybe. But so are men. Games as diverse as Gears of War to Starcraft portray super-muscular men.

Do you understand how Kickstarter works? If you don't fund the project, you don't get the perks (ie, you don't get high-res version of the series). Most people fund Kickstarter projects for the perks themselves, not because they think its an important project.

There are many video games in which a person with big arms and shoulders will be at an advantage, e.g. fighting games, war games, etc. There are very few video games in which a person with big breasts and no clothes will be at an advantage, unless the object of the game is to get ****ed.
Anyway, how many games really portray women like that?
Best to look at the best-selling games because they have the greatest exposure.
