Does this mean the DLC that we already purchased is not going to carry through to G&K? That would really bite.

As far as I understood it, Gods and Kings includes also Spain, whether you have already got it or not before. The DLC with Spain does not include Spain alone, it also contains the Incas and a scenario. So you get also a bit from the DLC, but not everything. I assume that Gods and Kings will behave like the others DLC, just bigger, if you have something else then you can use it if not you can't.

However, if you look on previous games then you see that with time they get cheaper, and their expansion packs, too. The expansion packs are even bundled with the main game, and sold for a much smaller price. This will happen to Civ5, too. After Gods and Kings we will see some DLCs maybe another expansion and some more DLCs. Or just a few more DLCs, and in one or two years, there will be a Civ5 complete, with everything in. (Judging from Civ4.)

And after that Firaxis will go for a Civ6, which would 4 or 5 years after Civ5.

I like that we are finally getting another African civilization with Ethiopia--Africa is rather an under-populated continent in Civ compared to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The Byzantines' unique ability (having extra Belief slots) seems very appropriate, since Constantinople was the seat of the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church (which was and still is the biggest Christian denomination after Roman Catholic), as well as the site of three of the first seven Ecumenical Councils that defined international Christian doctrine. (Two other of the councils were in Nicea, which was a day's journey away from Constantinople on horseback.)

You are thinking and why don't you do it?

Anyway, I added an image from Byzantine Empress Theodora, from that we learn, about the second unique item, which is a unique unit the Cataphract, and the Byzantine Unique ability is called Patriarchate of Constantinople. So updated this article about Civilizations and Civilization 5 Gods and Kings.

Is the dutch leader really named "William I of Orange"?
That would be wrong. William I is the first king of Holland, not the one that's being depicted here.

William I of Orange that what I have and if I compare it to the image from wikipedia then I think there are some similarities so it could be the same man. But well, who else do you think he is? Anyway, I added links to wikipedia to all leader names.
