3) Not Diesel (**** off you euros)
4) Not RWD
5) Around $30-35K (USD/CDN) new, as I want to pay cash and don't want to finance anything
6) Automatic. I don't like having to shift, and it gets in the way of my coffee. As I drive to work at 6am, the coffee is more important than a stick.
Performance is nice, but comfort is more important. I am not going to be racing my car anywhere.
My current top contender is the 2013 Acura ILX:

Really reasonably priced (starts at ~28K, with the package I'd want it's ~$33K). It goes on sale in 12 days.
Also taking a look at the 2012 Acura TSX. It's a bit bigger, bit more powerful, bit more expensive, and I think a bit more bland.

For the first time, I'm considering a hybrid: 2012 Lexus CT200h:

It gets about 60mpg, is not completely gutless, and looks pretty comfortable.
I really was interested in the Lexus IS, but the reasonably priced ones are RWD and the AWD one is about $40K. Too much.
I've not test driven any of these yet. That'll be after I narrow down a bit.

Out of price range.
Of the options listed - I'd got for the Lexus, its styling is far superior.
The Lexus really depends on the test drive. The electric + gas engines combined produce only 130hp...might not be peppy enough for me.

Sorry. Next step down with Hyundai is the Sonata Hybrid. Didn't drive the hybrid, but the gasoline version drove great, and for $30K you can get it pretty tricked out. Good build quality, great warranty.

Asher some good choices there. Are you not looking at the Accord at all? I had a 6 speed manual 2 door with a 3.5 l engine that was just amazing. It came with automatic transmission as well
I am also looking for a new vehicle-- I will continue my redneck ways with my truck but the Mrs will be replacing her people mover. It needs to
1. be able to seat 4 comfortable with good cargo space
2. Be able to seat 6 (2 are children so the "third row" can be cramped as long as the second row can accomodate adults
3. NOT BE A MINIVAN
4. Be capable of towing 4000 pounds
5. All-wheel drive
6. Not a domestic-- she has a huge bias against them
7. Not huge-- ie Toyota Sequoia is too large---
So far we have looked at a Honda Pilot, Acura MDX and Audi Q7-- I think tonight we are driving a Nissan

Sounds like they share a platform but are different cars. Teana is the best value for money full size sedan (European full size, not American aircraft carrier) on the Russian market right now.
