Civilization V: Gods & Kings announced
The Civilization V Expansion Pack Gods & Kings has just been announced on 2kgames.com.
The expansion comes with "Tons of New Stuff" like "27 new units, 13 new buildings, 9 new wonders, and 9 new playable civilizations. Among the new civilizations are the Netherlands (William I, Prince of Orange), the Celts (Boudicca), and the Mayans (Pacal the Great)."
Most important of course are the new game elements. Religion is back! Back in September 23rd 2010 Apolyton Civilization Site already discovered that Religion was was removed from [vanilla] Civilization V. Today the official announcement of 2K Games reads: "Using the new "Faith" resource, you'll be able to found your own religion and grow it from a simple Pantheon of the Gods to a world-spanning fully-customized religion."
If we read back our article from 2010 we can expect the following religions to enter the expansion pack: "Eight religions are named in the source files: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Polytheism, Shintoism, Spiritualism and Zoroastrianism." We also discovered back then that there will be a religious victory: "a Religious Victory would be about bringing your religion to 'all cities'" The rumors appeared to be right: "There are rumors in the forums about religion being brought back in a possible future Expansion Pack for Civ5."
Between the release of the original Civilization V and the announcement of the expansion pack many thigns may have changed to the original concept of religion.
Other big changes to God & Kings are:
- Reworked Combat System
- Enhanced Diplomacy, with Espionage
- New City-States
- New scenarios
We'll keep you posted!

Religion ans Spies![]()
And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot
Even Civ2 had spies. Why did it take this long to add it to Civ5?

To be honest I'm amazed they are evening doing an expansion pack. I though it would be all DLC from now on...
Another thing; not much build up to it... I mean it's suppose to come out "Late Spring", in a couple of months. Wonder why...

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. - Zephaniah 3:17
Without Shafer combat apparently also gets an overhaul.
Reworked Combat System. The expansion has a reworked combat system along with an AI that places more emphasis on balanced army composition. Among the changes to the combat system is the addition of melee naval units, which will force you to really rethink the way you execute your naval assaults.
I wonder if it'll be much more then naval improvements.

civ1 spies were cool, you could buy enemy units on the field.

Very encouraging news; I always felt the tech tree was a little thin. So many new buildings, units, wonders, leaders... fantastic. I am cautiously optimistic, as the original wasn't all it could have been, but I am very likely going to buy this in the first week of release.

Nice, maybe I'll finally play CiV with this expansion.

Among the poets we are ****.

1) The game was obviously rushed so they had to eliminate even basic features.
2) They're greedy bastards who want you to pay for basic features that should have shipped with the game.
3) They design team was absolutely the worst of any major game I have ever seen. Period.

so more like "Civilization V: the other half of the game," amirite?

Well I'm sure this isn't the entire other half of the game. After this pack, we might be up to 80% of the total game though.
Looks promising, can't wait to see more information about this. I have enjoyed Civ V a lot, so far I have spent many hundreds of hours on the game. Religion is one of the features that I missed the most from earlier Civ games.
This space is empty... or is it?

Plomp, read your PMs, will ya?![]()

Now that is just stupid. I can tick off a lot of major games which hit the shelves which were far worse than CiV, which was at least playable.
We get that you don't like CiV. So why do you keep posting about it here? Nobody gives a **** about your opinion because you've no interest in the game anymore. Now you just come across as a crank.
Tutto nel mondo è burla

I like Civ V and I am a CIO with a lot of programming and design experience. The design team did a horrible job. Thinks didn't work as advertised. The number of simple bugs was too long to list. They obviously didn't listen to the beta players, and when they tried to fix something, they broke something else. It may not have been the worst design team of all games, but certainly the worst Civ design team.

I wonder...
I'm hoping it will graft on to the Civ5 I already have, but I seriously doubt it.
I REALLY hope that the DLC I got for Civ 5 will be usable with this, but I doubt it.
If I have to buy my DLC stuff again, I'ma be really mad.
Still, nice to see that they're doing something. It had been so long since any DLC had been released that I was beginning to think they'd simply given up with Civ5.
I don't know what I've been told!
Deidre's got a Network Node!
Love to press the Buster Switch!
Gonna nuke that crazy witch!

That was an unexpected surprise.
Maybe this could be a reason to play Civ V again.
I will definitely wait till its out and I can read the opinion of others about the expansion, however,
before I decide whether to buy or not

my gamers must have missed it and complained
now they are making money on what use to be in the game for free

CDO ....its OCD in alpha order like it should be

the screenshots look promising. I am looking forward to it...![]()

Any eta for it?

Apparently it's going to come with a Victorian Sci-Fi scenario, which sounds cool. I loved the Jules Verne scenario from Civ 2 (Fantastic Worlds IIRC).
Do not take anything I say seriously. It's just the Internet. It's not real life.
