Well... so far it broke my game. When I try to launch Civ V it says incomplete installation
EDIT: Yay, works now
Just noticed there must have been another change in the patch that I can't see mentioned anywhere. My capitol is currently building Cristo Redemtor (sp?), only a few turns left until finished. As soon as I end the turn the construction has been canceled (without telling me why and I'm not getting any money in return). I can then start building it in other cities, so it's not because other players has finished it
Also I can't build the Eiffel Tower anymore (this time I do get some money though, but can't build it anywhere). It doesn't tell me that other players has built it (I don't believe any of my enemies has the tech yet)

This space is empty... or is it?
Adagio, is this a new game you are playing post-patch, or a game you are continuing from pre-patch?
It's a game from before the patch
... and now the game crashed when I pressed ctrl-s (Steam is completely frozen)![]()

I really doubt that pre-patch saves will be compatible with the patch given the number of changes.

The patch is of course not save game compatibe.![]()

I keep my CiV system offline for exactly reasons such as this.

There's a bug when trading that I have not experienced before. I gave Suleiman Dyes for a small sum plus some GPT. Typically such a deal lasts 45 turns, but on the next turn the deal got canceled. I think it's great to have many features included in the patch, but so much for testing... . If that happens more often (it was right the first deal that I struck) this bug is a game breaker.
I have a screenshot to prove it:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Could you post a save too, please?

In-game AA still does not work (black screen for me when I turn it on)

Did you update your drivers?
Those kinds of things are very seldom fixed in the game itself, it's almost always a driver bug.
how could i have missed this?? well, i have my game computer on the balcony, and today was a bit chilly. i hope the weather improves tomorrow![]()
Yes, I always keep them current. My video card is GTX 260 and my drivers are 260.99, same as the latest on NVIDIA website. I CAN turn on AA in NVIDIA control panel, and it works, but if I put application controlled and try to turn AA in game options - black screen with only mouse pointer visible. Thankfully, after 15 second it reverts back...
Did anyone with GTX 260 manage to turn on in-game AA on DX10/11 version of the game?

MxM: Have you set Leader Quality in graphic options to Medium?
IIRC theres some mystical tesselation thing going on with High Quality leader setting that requires a dx11 card to allow AA; GTX 260 is a dx10 card.
It's acceptable for games where you can decide when to install the patch (so you can install it when finished with your game), but not at all acceptable when you have no choice when it updates
If people don't shout up about a problem like this, it would end up becoming normal, but at the moment it is NOT normal
I only remember very few games where you can't load an old save after installing a patch. The other way around is of course very normal
Also try to imagine if in Civ IV this was normal. Everybody who's playing a PBEM game would go nuts, as they would need to have the game installed several times (one for each version of the game, they are playing a PBEM game in)
I managed to finish the game created with the old patch without any other crashes
This space is empty... or is it?
Just noticed a different bug:
In a new game I finished building the Cristo statue, then 2-3 turns later a city state asks me to build it, and then the next turn I get the bonus for building it
This space is empty... or is it?

Tried to play my turnset of an SG and having graphical issues. When I open Citizen Management I don't have the visual coins to select tiles and if I minimize any of the drop downs on the top right I lose the screen.
I started a new game and the issues weren't there, so it appears that its due to pre-patch saves, which makes SG games unfortunate.

There's a lot of really, really bizarre behaviour in Civ5 that make me question the skill of the graphics developers. Not only the weird AA quirks, but frames per second can go up as resolution increases in Civ5...only game I've ever heard of that did that. It's a big sign something is wrong.
Are you ESL?
His card gets no playable framerates at any resolution with high graphics settings. His specific model of card also got slower at higher resolutions, it is only the newer 400/500 series GeForces that get faster.
GREAT patch.
first, i gotta say i bought dlc a day after. incas are a lot of fun to play with. i lost to arabia - they aggressively bought off my CS allies. that is exactly what a human player would do. commendable reality, in a way, but i would prefer diplo victory being tweaked so that it does not feel that gamey. still, great stuff. terraces are kewl, especially if you tuck them in among mountains. other abilities are fun as well, great andean road indeed...it FELT like that. brownie points for immersion.
i am playing now with siam, running a small 'but focused' empire and grooming my CS allies. japan just spammed a ton of cities, and i gotta say i feel like AI is ICSing a tad too much, at least for mu taste. I fought them back to stalemate although they had twice as many cities, not because AI is stupid now tactically, but because my CS allies soaked up the brunt of japanese attack. also, i clearly realized why japan DOWed me - i stole their ally. once they denounced me, other denouncements followed. again, good stuff. and they really have the reasong to hate me, my capital is the shining city on the hill.
this game is fun.
btw, i like almost all the tweaks they introduced. surely, there is stuff to work on an the occassional bug (road to CS request failed me), but this looks promising.
Time was, you could get the patches here. What do you do when you CAN'T get the patch from Steam?? My son is a Mac player and cannot get the patch. Or is that a Mac issue?
*EDIT*
Further investigation suggests that the patch is NOT available for Mac users. So our Xmas plans to play family multiplayer are f****d. *Sigh* We are legally obliged not to discriminate against gays/blacks/disabled etc ... WHEN will mac users be treated equally???
So please, Apolyton posters, when you say a patch has arrived ... it has properly arrived when PC AND Mac users can use it!!!

Golgamesh, the Mac patch is not here yet. But despair not just yet! Civ5 is part of Steamplay, which means that your son owns Civ5 both to Windows and Mac! So if he can use bootcamp or borrow another Windows computer, he can still play against you.![]()
