If this indeed works, it's really amazing!
I don't have the time to try it out myself atm, though. Hope someone else can and reports back here.

Despite the very simple instructions I cannot get it to work.

It closes down the moment I press any button.
I am not very literate on computers though.

keu, can you give us a more specific idea of what it does?

          Thanks.

You should provide a copy or link to the GNU GPL in the readme.

Now all you need to do is add support for multiple maps .

Excellent! I tried running it on Vista. I double click the CivRiver.exe and the MS DOS box opens. It says to "Press any key to continue . . ." but as soon as I try and type a command the window shuts down. Excuse my ignorance, but what am I meant to do?

Also, does this only work with .scn files or can it be used with .sav, .hot and .net too?

keu, was this utility born from your research into why improvements weren't destroyed upon a cities capture in Red October?

I was slightly updated the program, version 1.01 with a bit more detailed instructions and on-screen messages. See the first message in thread to download link.

It adds and removes a river in specified map tile(s) of a ToT scenario. It proposed to be used for post-mapmaking scenario editing.

*.sav files also can be affected but I have no ideas wherefore

I'm sorry. I thinked that Civ2 community in general knows what is "command line" because of a number of existing command-line tools such as CivConverter.

To make it working you should open command prompt window and type commands there.

I'm wondering that nobody still didn't it because the task is very simple.

I hope I will do it in the future. Thanks for your "Saved Game File Format" table.
