    Do people still commonly use MGE, or is it obsolete?

    I will have no choice, since I've "upgraded" to a 64-bit Windows 7 and it won't let me play Civ 2.42 even with the patch.

    This has been discussed before. Windows 7 professional can run XP compatible programs in an emulation mode. There are also other programs out there that can emulate a 32 bit environment.
