Cancel 178.Originally posted by quinns
Unless anyone objects, I'll just cancel your above noted matches, Hatschy. I'll wait awhile, though, to give time for objections.
I do have a copy somewhere.Originally posted by hatschy
The first post in this thread lists some games as "active", which definitely are not. These are matches 162, 177 (except if TheBirdman has a copy of the last turn and wishes to continue that match) and 178. Quinns, could you either cancel these or count them as a win for my opponents (since it was me who left the scene), please.
But as time passed since we stopped playing that match, my curiousity got too strong....... so even though I have the copy, the match can't be reopened.
Hard to say who would have won, but I do think you had the upperhand.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

There has been some recent discussion about what is considered "cheating" in PBEM. I added a few primary examples to the opening post. I think most all of you know these already, but here they are...
... Excerpt from the Opening Post
Rule 4
4. There is no cheating or bug exploits allowed in CTP PBEM Challenges. Anyone caught cheating will be permanently banned from the CTP PBEM Challenge Ladder.
Cheating in PBEM includes (but is not limited to):
a) Opening any of your opponents turns before the game ends.
b) Replaying any turn.
c) Using the "rush buy - then switch queue" bug exploit.

How about
d) Using the (somewhat greyish) improvement under city bug
?
I think I think, therefore I might be. Paraphrased from Ambrose Bierce (1842 - 1914)

I think that has been outlawed--many people don't know about it.

What about terraforming a tile before you settle on it?
We used to ban this also in CtP2 MP, but what do you think?

I ask, because I say find 3 great goods in a forest/hills region but no water/farm potential
i simply "roadmap" farms to me from a water source

Terraforming around a city is fine of course, but I mean terraforming the future city tile itself. Say terraforming a plains or grassland to forest before you settle on it.Originally posted by Grandpa Troll

I haven't used it in either of my games though because I wasn't sure.

I would say terraforming is fine, building farms or mines is not.

It seems the sentiment is to ban farm or mine under city. To me, this does seem like a bug and should be banned. Here is the text of the proposed rule:
4d) Settling on top of a farm or mine.
Without objection, I'll add this to the rules.

hf resigned in this game at turn 82.
His new cities were unfortunately (for him) settled right across the ocean from my older more developed cities, allowing me to capture 3 quickly with SotL before he could get defences to them. More were probably to follow, so that was it.
We just started a rematch.

And then science. You need to have focus on science from the start in case your opponent have an equal or better fleet (read more SOTLs). If so, then you HAVE to get first to aerodynamics to get fighters.
