  • RED FRONT ToT REDUX

    It's taken long enough (two years give or take!) but Curt and I have finally completed a set of graphics files for Catfish's Test of Time conversion of Cap'n Nemo's seminal work, Red Front 1.4.

    Catfish's conversion is here:

    Red Front for ToT (1.28 Mb)
    Sounds (2.64 Mb)

    Edit: Catfish has replaced zipped versions with rars. Link updated.

    The new graphics files are in this rar:

    Red Front for ToT GFX

    EDIT: updated with correct wcities.

    Simply install Catfish's conversion and then unrar the gfx redux into the same folder. There is a single rules text file included which adds an extra sprite.

          I haven't included any scenario changes, including a remedy for the infamous 'too many units' bug. Someone else will have to sort that out and I'd encourage those of you struggling with an upgrade to continue posting in the old thread and perhaps release a simple patch for this bug before doing anything else...

          Credits for the redux files:

          * Terrain, people, cities, improvements, icons ----- Curtsibling
          * Terrain ----- Catfish
          * Terrain ----- Kestrel
          * Title ----- Sarsstock
          * Units, terrain -----fairline

            Huzzah! Great stuff, fairline, you've made this great CIV2 classic even more fantastic!

            A quick patch to fix the 'too many units' issue would make this scenario perfect.

            Perhaps those wizards on the RF dev thread could make something?

              I am not delusional! Now if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go dance with the purple wombat who's playing show-tunes in my coffee cup!
              Rules are like Egg's. They're fun when thrown out the window!
              Difference is irrelevant when dosage is higher than recommended!

                  This patch should not take too long... And without the problem of partisan in winter 41/42...

                      These units are great.

                      One or two questions?
                      - Why a Sig 33 instead of Wespe and then Hummel?
                      - No slave labor update?

                        Wespe and Hummel were not then available in Summer 1941.

                        These weapons were made as a reaction to combat events in the Barbarossa attack.

                          Fairline, I notice the screenies do not show the winter cities.

                          I assume these were made before I completed that task?

                          (just wondering, in case the batch file is wonky)

                              As Curt says, I used those SP arty pieces that were historically available - You can change the rules yourselves to re-name them, or ignore as you prefer. Similarly, I've used a T-34-42/43 graphic as the tank upgrade in the early war years, rather than a T-34/85 which is available later. As for the slave labourer, I didn't feel like drawing a concentration camp victim....

                              Thanks all for your comments. Looking forward to the fruits of the ToT rules / events remake...
