In the "Options" window the register cards "Audio" and "Other" are empty and don't allow customization. Annoying that, and very so. Is there a simple solution?

You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
Graphics GeForce 7800 GTX. No audio card (using on board audio). No problems with vanilla and warlords.
Not that seems to be the problem though. There are xml files missing as it seems, as I could find xml files for the first 2, but not the last 2 register cards. A fresh, error-free installation.
Just removed the installation and re-installed it.
Again bug-free. Again both xml files missing. And of course again both register cards blank.
Hmm, this is somewhat similar to problems I'm having (my civics screen is partly blank, and thus I cannot change civics). I have a GeForce FX 5500. I too have installed the game twice now. I wonder if there is a connection.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.
Sounds like you're missing some files... i've seen all four pages, so it's not a consistent bug. Try grabbing the xml files from someone else?

I'm not entirely sure if it is xml files missing, there's so many of them, I'm just suspecting it. And to be honest, I don't know why I would have to. I think I can rightly expect, that an error-free installed game is complete.
I stopped playing for the time being. I want my advanced city infos (turn numbers shown for growth and production). Without them city management is too much hassle.
Perhaps you should just edit your ini? The options are all in there... and isn't advanced city options in one of the first two tabs anyway?

I didn't find that option in my ini. And it is not in the first 2 tabs, I think it is in "Other".
