Yee haw!! We got us a game. Welcome Sabre! Good to see you.
So - dacole - are you reading up on pitboss and how to tun this. You have both snoop and me in this game to help guide you, although I bow to snoop's greater knowledge in this regard.
4 teams of two - chosen randomly by my dog.(I might have to wrap each persons name around a dog treat - drop them in his bowl, and see what order they come out. The first two names form a team, then the next two, etc. And if it is a big screw up I can always use the excuse that my dog ate my homework.
Island starts??? Is this OK with folks? Game name - The Aegean.
Now civs? Ephack had listed some pairings earlier. I had suggested we all get Greece. But I am not hung up on this one way or the other. Everyone getting Greece is a great leveller - especially with island starts. And then we all customize our civs to some Greek/Hellenistic/Delian League type name.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.
Beta - don't know if you're interested but we may be getting a (normal) MP game on tonight at some point with some other casual players, check 'rah's saturday night game' thread in MP forum (yes, it's friday, that's what we mean)

Well done folks, thank you and welcome sabrewolf!
In the beginning, nobody wanted to play with me, but then I met Beta...

And I volunter to be the first to choose a civ: I would like to rule the Athenians, because I really believe in Athena and her reincarnations. On that account, If I could have a female leader, it would of course enhance my charismatic power on my people...
Concerning the civs choice, beside the point that Alex doesn't really look feminine, I have no preference. Both options can be interesting. What is your opinion?

I tried to insert a file, but that wasn't the good way to do it. Now again:

Thanks snoop! Next week would work for me, but tonight I was playing HOTW 8 with CyberShy, Ozzy and crowd. Great game. Off to a fairly good start.Originally posted by snoopy369

Nope. He is a well trained young dog. He knows teh 'leave it' command fairly well, so I can get him to drop it. But I expect he will just like the game of picking oit the cookies wrapped in paper. [/quote]

Athenians!![]()
Great choice! I am so disappointed that Pericles was not added as a leader for Greece - creative and/or charismatic and/or industrious. All of those would have fit.
As to civs - I ams till split between all of us taking Greece - or picking regular civs and renaming them as Greek city-states. Maybe that would make more sense.
I will take Delos, and the Delians.

As long as the file is a jpeg or something similar - and less that 800 pixels wide and high (600 or 500 wide works better - doesn't stretch the thread) - just browse it in your pictues folder upload it directly. That's what I do for most of my pics.Originally posted by Ephack

Yep! That's what I did too. But I also made a preview to see my file. Which wasn't here, I don't know why. I though it was only because of the preview and hit submit. But the image was still not there. Anyway, now I now how to do it, and that I shouldn't make a preview
Is the game up now? It still appears as deconnected in civstats.

The game has started? Teammates are already picked?
If not, I like to make a counter proposal on the teams: The 4 civs that border the mediterranean (Carthage, Egypt, Rome and Greek)
And I was under the impression we got to choose our own teammate? Guess not...![]()

Nope. Game has not started. Still considering the set up.
Your idea on civs is also intriguing. Do we go with an inland sea start (already have one of those with Bohemian Epic) ? I am liking the island starts idea.
As to team mates - we proposed random as no natural teams coalesced. Is everyone Ok with picking team mates?
Technically Ephack "started" this game, so Ephack should get the final call, IMO.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

No, no inland sea map required for me. I prefer a real global map.
Islands is ok for me, but I hope the map won't be bigger then a standard map. (low-end computer here)

Yes - for islands and 8 players, I think standard would be a good size.
To we want a world wrap - or a flat map?
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

is it too late to join? If not, I'd like to join. I have never play civ muiltplayer of any kind, but would like to try it. Is this for Warlords or just normal cIV?
Former President, Vice-president and Foreign Minister of the Apolyton Civ2-Democracy Games as 123john321

hmm we have eight already and we were going to do four teams of 2 so it may be to late sorry. I'm ok with one team of three (though we would need to find some way to weaken them not sure how that can be done) or we just don't do teams at all (though that would go against the original idea for the game. My preference on map is an island start, standard, and round world map (not flat). Might be interesting if we all choose greece as that would make things equal. As well there is somewhat of an agean begining set up isn't there?
I assume the game is warlords as well. Reading up on how to host. (not sure if I have a dynamic IP or not....cable so what is that usually)
A university faculty is 500 egoists with a common parking problem

Hum... Sorry guys, the end of my last message was not intended to be posted here
mrboo123, the game is full now, sorry. Or perhaps if you have a companion we could add a 5th team...
Let's go for island map, then. And world wrap please. I really don't like flat worlds.
And for the civs to choose... Why not making 4 teams of "super civs"? One roman team, one cartagenian, one egyptian and one greek. Could be cool, too.
Arrrrgghh! There are too much possibilities, and they all look good!
But perhaps to stick to the idea of "ageans wars", it would be better to give Greece to everybody. And I like the fact that we all beginn with the same bonuses.
The game is warlord with last patch.

mrboo123 - I agree with Ephack. If you can find a tenth player we go with 5 teams of two. dacole is going to be running this game as pitboss, so 2 more won't make that much of a difference. Maybe add the Persians to the mix already suggested. Or again - all Greeks. TOO MANY CHOICES AND GOOD IDEAS!

I will be mrboo123's partner.![]()

Wow, so now we are 10 players... Quite a big game... Welcome BigFree and mrboo123
I think we should begin as soon as possible:
Beta, is your dog ready for the big show?
Dacole, are you ready to host the game? Do you need testing? Help? More information?
All the others: Could everybody choose a greek name for its civilization? And please give your opinion on whether we should all take Greece or make "civ teams" with 5 mediterranean civilizations...

That has not yet been decided. The partnerships that is.Originally posted by BigFree

And welcome to the game BF!
We either:
1. Pick partners, or
2. Randomly assign partners. Wyatt the Wonder Dog stands ready and willing.
And I'm easy on all Greek or the five Mediterranean civs previously identified. If we do pick those five, the teams with Eqypt and Rome should pick the same leader - so as not to give themselves a natural advantage from the start.

As for map settings, island map or big lake.
I'd rather have all Mediterranean civs than just Greeks.
(That would be Spain, Carthage, Rome, Greece, Egypt, right?)
Former President, Vice-president and Foreign Minister of the Apolyton Civ2-Democracy Games as 123john321

Well, that's right that Spain is a mediterranean civ, but I like the proposal of Beta to include Persia:
Carthage, Rome, Greece, Egypt and Persia are all civs from the antiquity.

Well, that works too. Even thought really, Spain is more of mediterranean civ than Persia (but I like Persia better though)
Former President, Vice-president and Foreign Minister of the Apolyton Civ2-Democracy Games as 123john321

Very true. Guess I was just grabbing at civs sort of from the same era, and Persia at one time did control most of the eastern Med.Originally posted by mrboo123

In this case, do not forget the Ottomans. Those are verily mediterranean based. And the Celts settled as south as Iberia (Spain) too...
10 players? Please don't play on a bigger map then Standard size. If you're concerned there won't be enough land, simply select the low sealevel. My comp won't be able to handle bigger maps then this.
And with 10 players, all of use could take a single civ which was once more or less mediterranean-based: Spain, Celts, France, Rome, Greece, Ottomans, Persia, Egypt, Carthage and Mali.
(just to add more confusion to the setup)

OK - we have to get this going!![]()
dacole - are you ready?
I am just fine with the civilizations suggested by GeoModder.
We have agreed on an islands map, with a standard size map.
So, shall we:
1. Assign those civs randomly, and assign teams randomly as well.
or
2. Assign those civs randomly, and let folks pick their playing partners.
24 hours to vote. Go!
